Some Pretty Polishes

Posted on | September 3, 2010 | 2 Comments

It seems the Autumn colours are really setting in now, but rather than go for a trendy Khaki, I thought I’d give you lovely two über wearable and VERY pretty colours that are great for everything from an office meeting to a jazzy night out.

My first pick is from the Luxe brand, Le Metier de Beauté.

Le Metier de Beaute Inflorescence

This nail lacquer is really quite something. When I first tried it in Liberty, I was actually wearing a bright coral shade and the Le Metier lacquer completely covered the coral in just one coat. The shade is called Inflorescence and it’s a beautiful, gilted champagne that gives a very pretty foiled look without looking tacky. Plus it has some serious staying power and doesn’t chip at all (unless, like me, you decide do the household cleaning straight after application… damn that Mr Muscle cleaning spray).

The only problem with the product is the price point, which at £10-£13 you wouldn’t think was extortionate… until you saw the size of the bottle. It’s TINY! I suppose that with such good coverage, you don’t need as much but it is very small… At least I’ll be sure to actually finish the bottle which is rare!

The Nail Laquers are formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate (DPB) free and cost £10-£13 from Liberty.

My second favorite polish of the moment is one from the new range from Barbara Daly. As you may well know, I’m a bit of a fan of BD makeup, it’s incredible value for money and I love, love, love their mascaras.

Barbara Daly Mini Fashion Nail Polishes

Their latest Mini Fashion Nail Collection has eight shades that are bang on for next season, ranging from blues to purples to reds… there’s even a sneaky silver in there to add a little sparkle too!

My favourite shade is Cheeky Cherry (photographed) which goes on evenly and thoroughly and again, comes in a little 7ml pot, making finishing such a nice shade almost inevitable (hello… it’s a recession; waste not, want not etc).

At only £3, you can’t really go wrong…

Love both of those colours – the gold is beautiful. Could try a YSL style manicure with the two shades… if you like that sort of thing. Gold tips on the deep red would look fab for Xmas!
