Oh Dorothy!

Now if you were in the office with me, you’d realise that I’ve got a bit of a problem. With nail polish. Seriously, I paint my nails around four times a week and it’s getting to be a bit of an addicition. Realising that time spent painting and then waiting for my nails to dry was a tad wasteful, I decided to go on the hunt for alternative, more permanent, options. Cue Artisitic Colour Gloss.

Celebrity nail manicurist Tom Bachik (think Beyonce – check out his work in her video for Why Don’t You Love Me below- Victoria Beckham and J-Lo) has just launched the Artisitic Colour Gloss range and we’re very impressed. It’s a polish/gel hybrid that claims to last 14-21 days. The formula has to be professionally applied (any excuse for a manicure) as you have to have an LED light on hand to set the polish as soon as it’s applied but the faf is worth it when you see the results.

The best thing about the product (bar the incredible finish) are the amazing colours you get in the range. Most gel nail treatments are relatively limited in colour range and often don’t have colours for the more daring of us nail-obsessors. The Colour Gloss range however, has 38 shades and they’re all fab. I opted for the daringly sparkly, ruby red shade Hotness, which literally looks like Dorothy’s ruby slippers on each nail. Katie opted for a pinker gloss which I think was potentially Trendy.

The gel is applied in two thin coats (with a base and top coat treatment as well) and after each application the LED light box is used to set the layer. The results are amazing as the polish is rock hard instantly and leaves a really glossy finish that doesn’t look too thick or fake. Plus any manicure that lasts for over two weeks is fine by me.

The only downside is that you have to soak your nails in acetone to get the polish off. It’s only a small niggle and not worthing worrying about if you need a fab set of talons for a holiday or special event.
