A Tasty Facial

As a sufferer of bad skin, I recently turned to skincare maestro, SCforM, who not only gave me a good telling off for poor my daily skincare regime, but also recommended a few top tips… including a natural yoghurt facial…. yummmm!

Problem skin

With a simple skincare regime that involved a pretty harsh cleanser and a moisturiser that was full of essential oils and other irritants (you may think these sounds like they’ll help but boy, do they NOT), there was no wonder that my already bad skin was constantly blotchy and aggravated. SCforM sat me down the other day and gave me a good talking to.

‘You’ve got to stop using your current products, they’re counter-productive and are actually aggravating your skin even more. Just because the product looks good and feels like you’re deep cleansing it by scrubbing away all the dirt, you’re actually stripping your skin of all the things that will help it heal. My advice for sensitive, blemish-prone skin would always be to use very simple products, i.e the ones that have a short ingredients list like Paula’s Choice products… those are great. Keep things like cleansers and moisturisers simple and use just one acne-fighting product among them.’

Paula's Choice Clear Range

Now, under strict instructions, I went and sourced out some Paula’s Choice products for the Clear range and am currently using them in my daily routine so I’ll let you know how I get on… so far so good! Another top tip SCforM dished out was to cleanse during and moisturise as soon as you get out of the shower. By doing this you’re cleaning your skin while the pores are relaxed and by moisturising within 3 minutes of your shower you’re trapping in as much moisture as possible. A great tip for me as my skin was getting a tad dry from the blemish treatment.

For those of us that don’t suffer from really bad skin, just uneven skintone, he’s also recommended a rather tasty facial solution.

Natural Yoghurt is great face mask to resolve uneven skintone. It has lactic acid in it and calming qualities that not only even out tone but also calms aggravated areas.’

Yoghurt Facial

I actually used this mask last night for 20 minutes and was very impressed. My skin felt plump and smooth and when I woke up this morning I not only had something to have for breakfast (i didn’t use a whole pot on my face!) but my skin looked better than it had for ages. I’d definitely try it as an at home solution.

If you want more skincare advice from SCforM visit his blog… we’d definitely recommend visiting the Skincare 101 section of the site for anyone wanting to know the good (and unbiased) basics.
